Prostitution, besides being « the oldest profession », is an occupation about which an extraordinary number of deeply rooted myths exist. With the publication of Dr. Harold Greenwald’s first book, « THE CALL GIRL: A Social and Psychoanalytical study », came  the first serious, modern examination of the problem of high-class prostitution in America.
